Human kidney

Image
Kidneys consist of excretory tubules called nephrons. Kidneys play a vital role of processing waste products of metabolism. Blood is continuously being cycled through the kidneys in order to remove nitrogenous wastes. The removal of these wastes plays an integral role in maintaining homeostasis. The urinary system consists of kidneys, blood vessels and the various passageways that dump the wastes out of the body. The "dirty blood" that needs to be "cleaned" goes into the kidney through the renal artery and exits it through the renal vein. It undergoes the process of filtration. The waste product, termed urine exits the kidneys with the help of the ureter duct. The ureter drains all the urin in to the urinary bladder. During urination, the urine exits the body through the urethra. GLOMERULAR FILTRATION Blood in the glomerulus is separated from the space in the Bowman’s capsule by two thin cellular layers (glomerular endothelium cells and podocytes), whic...

Shining of stars

Image
How do stars shine in the night sky? Answer: Stars are big balls of gas, and they shine because the gas inside is so hot that it causes nuclear fusion, which is the energy releasing process that people can see from earth. Nuclear fusion is where two individual atoms fuse and form a different atom. Explanation: All stars are formed from the dust and gas that are within the galaxy. The gas is pulled together by gravity, and as more of it is pulled closer together, it begins to spin. This spinning causes the gas atoms to bump into one another, which creates friction or heat energy. The heat energy gets hotter as the cloud continues to spin and then it begins to glow when nuclear fusion happens. At that point, it is known as a protostar because it can still grow. It grows by attracting more gas to it. Once the star stops growing, it becomes known as a main sequence star and can shine for millions of years or more, depending on its size. Once the nuclear fusion process has ...

Moon phases

Image
Why does the moon have phases? Ans:  The moon has phases with distinct appearances because it is constantly rotating around the Earth and being illuminated by the sun at different angles. The most common phases are the new moon, first quarter, full moon and last quarter. Explanation The moon is constantly in orbit around the planet and completes a full revolution approximately once a month, or every 29.5 days. The sun is able to shine light on half of the surface area of the moon at any one time. When the moon is directly between the Earth and sun, the moon cannot be seen from the Earth, which is the new moon phase. Similarly, when the moon is on the opposite side of the Earth in relation to the sun, it will be in the full moon phase as all the light bouncing off the moon can be seen from Earth. saeedzond2001@gmail.com
